God speaks today....have you listened?

At the beginning of the month our friends Pat and Don invited us to go to a 3 day conference to go see and learn from Pastors Bill Johnson and Keith Miller, in the Dallas area. It was a very interesting and enlightening time. We were looking forward to the conference, because Bill Johnson is a man full of the Spirit of God. The weather had been so nice, 70 degrees and sunny, however, when we got to Dallas the weather made a very sudden change and it got sooooo cold it snowed on us,  for 2 days, brrrr!

One day during our stay in Dallas, my friend Pat handed me a bag with many items inside of it.  It had some correspondence, bills, a couple of CD's and a book called "Chronicles from His Garden" by Lillis Boyer.

Well, few days ago I began to listen to one of her CD's; it was the one with instrumental music, my favorite, because this particular CD helps you focus on God. It places you at His feet to praise Him, to love on Him and to thank Him for all the blessings He gives us every single day.

As I continued to listen, I picked up Lillis' book and began to read.  Several pages into it, I started to have some feelings, that I usually try to hide..... Wow, wow, wow!  Alert, Alert.... I am  feeling jealous by the experiences she was describing in her book.  The envy list lengthened....it came so rapidly and suddenly that I was having problem focusing on anything else but ME.....

Lord... why don't I ever experience anything like that? She had all these wonderful experiences with God and gardens and waterfalls, amazing colors and heaven. How come other people see things and see the glorious part of the heavenly realm?... and on, and on, and on I went!  I was in the middle of this one sided conversation with God when my phone rang.... it was Nick; he called me because he needed a meal break....ooops!  I was so into my feelings that I forgot to go get Nick.  I immediately went to get my baby and I prepared him a snack. While he was taking his meal break, we talked a bit about my experience.  As soon as he got back on the road, I got on our computer to check on my Facebook and my email.

I was about to access  Facebook when I heard from inside me: "twenty-nine, thirteen."  I looked around and out of my mouth came ... "What?" Again inside me I heard "twenty-nine, thirteen." I thought, "Is this a date?"...no, we only have 12 months. "Is this a time?"... no, we only have 24 hours in the day.  Is this a lottery number... "twenty-nine, thirteen.".... then inside me once again I heard..... "Deuteronomy 29:13". "Read, Deuteronomy 29:13!" When I read it, it seemed to be incomplete so I started to read on verse 12, which reads:   

12 You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and sealing with an oath, 13 to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Wooooow!  God is speaking to me...... I could not believe it.  I was nervous; excited and I started to  cry as I felt as small as a flea....I could not believe that He, The God of the Universe, was speaking to me!  He listened to my complaint and  He answered my request.  So I got on the drivers side of the RV and quickly drove to get Nick.  As he came for his other meal break, I shared with him about what God had told me.

When I was telling him about the scripture, I placed both of us in the scripture and I mentioned that His promises were for  Nick and I.  He knew immediately what I was trying to do. So he said to me. "Lucy, that promise is for you. God is speaking to you. He is your God and you are His"  Well, when he left. I continued to read in Deuteronomy 29:12-15, in my Bible and to my own surprise....here is what God said to us!

12 You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and sealing with an oath, 13 to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 14 I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you 15 who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God but also with those who are not here today. 

I felt in my heart that ALL the members of our family and our descendants have this promise. He is our GOD and we are His people!     

Open your heart today and listen to the still small voice of the Lord and see what He is saying to you.  Don't wait... He wants to bless you.  He loves you! He likes you! He delights in you! He is yours and you are His!

MMMM GOOD!!

I love to see the hand of God in every area of my life.  Last week we had the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas to see family, check on Alex's health and also we were able to drive to California for couple speaking engagements.

God really moved in the hearts of the people and my heart gets full of joy as I see the the Spirit of God blessing His people. We heard that it was snowing in the San Bernardino mountains, and since we wanted to get ahead of the "bad" weather we drove back to Vegas on Tuesday to see the family.  

We arrived at the Comfort Inn and Frank, our son, called to let us know that we would be seeing them that evening.  Well, little did I know they (Chris and Frank) had planned on taking us out to dinner.  They blessed us by taking us to the  Wolfgang Puck at the MGM casino.  


Frank and Chris's friend Cody is the chef there and we were treated like royalty!

For appetizers we had mini crab cakes, beef kabobs, a tray with a variety of deli meats and cheeses, potato chips with blue cheese dressing, and much more.  

We also had Chilean Sea Bass that was superb and a beef dinner that was out of this world. The food just kept coming to us, it was sooo amazing!  For dessert we had a delicious pumpkin cheese cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream as well as a marvelous chocolate souffle. I wish you could have been there. 

I don't think that King David, nor Solomon had such a wonderful and delightful spread. Really, we are blessed and highly favored.  I just need to thank Chris and Frank for loving on us.

The Grass Is Greener On the Other Side

In the society we live in, it seems that we are never happy with ourselves.  If we have curly hair, we want is straight. If we are short, we want to be tall. If we have brown hair, we color it blond, or red, or maybe purple.

I have heard people say that the grass is always greener on the other side. Well, I can attest to that! A few days ago, Nick stopped for a meal break, and few minutes after he left the RV, a police officer stopped him about quarter of a mile across from where I was parked on the side of the road.  I grabbed my binoculars and I was trying to see what was going on.  All of the sudden I saw the officer with his head bowed. Nick was praying with and for him.

I immediately started to talked to God about it.  I said to God, "It is wonderful the work that Nick is doing; he is being obedient to you and he gets to talk and pray with people...it is amazing how you move through him when we are on the road."  Of course right after that, I started to tell Him all the things that I was not doing. I said, "Lord, I am not walking, nor praying for people that much.  I have not prayed for an officer since we moved from Kansas to Oklahoma....and I am just here, doing house work on the road. Yes, I know that I am praying while Nick is walking...but Nick, is the face of the ministry, he does the dramas and is a very good speaker and writer and he has a great gift of communication."  And before I could say anything else, God spoke to my heart.  

"Lucy, before you go any further, let me tell you, that Nick, could not do this journey without you.  He needs you to support him, to take care of him, to pray for him and the people he is going to meet and not every one has your patience.  Besides, the RV is your prayer closet.  You talk to Me, you sing to Me and you worship Me. This is the place where we both meet every day.  You bring your petitions to Me and I listen and answer your prayers."
 
I totally  felt  like the Israelites,  I forgot!  For some reason, we usually do not see God and His hand working in us and through us, until after the fact. We...I guess I mean I... need to take time every day to count my blessings, no matter how small I think they are.  If it is a blessing, it is not small at all because God is in it. Wow! I do not know where I have been.  Sorry, Lord and thank you for waking me up!

Roller Coaster Year.


It seems that for the last 10 months I have been on an emotional roller coaster. Last January, Nick broke his two front teeth....that was a hit of $3000 in debts....in February, Nick had a five day hospital visit due to dehydration and that was about $22+K for five days; since we do not have insurance, the hospitalization treatments and services just kept adding up.

In February we were blessed by good friends from California who donated to Breath of Christ Ministries a 1977 RV for our 3rd Walk Across America for Christ....well, our friends are good Christian people with wonderful hearts...what they did not know is that the RV was not as road worthy as they thought. We had an adventure of replacing the engine, the radiator, airbags, shocks, and more stuff than I care to remember.

Our wonderful friend Bob Leavitt, made a point to help us with this RV and he got a new stove, he rebuilt a new bed for us and created office space for me to be able to do my work while on the road.  He also replace a sealing fan, the shower and put 3 mirrows in the RV so I would feel more at home.  He gave all of himself for us to be able to go on the road.  He gave his talent, his time, and cash out of his own pocket for us to keep walking for God.  This project took several months and still the RV was having problems.  I can hardly describe all of it. It would take another year to tell you all the details.

By the end of March, Nick and I found ourselves in a quicksand of debt, we were stuck $40,000!  It was not a pretty picture. We tried to figure out how to get out of it, because of all the repairs on the RV, plus the hospitalization and the dental was a combination of expenses we had not planned on. We did not know what to do, we were confused, stressed and overwhelmed. So, Nick said to God in a prayer....We do not know what to do, Lord but our eyes are on YOU! (2 Chronicles 20:12)

I mentioned to Nick that at the end of March, I had celebrated my 50th birthday and in Scripture it talks about the Year of Jubilee....on the 50th year. So I explained to Nick that I was going to claim my birthday as my year of jubilee and I was going to believe for our debt to be forgiven. He just looked at me with tender eyes like saying....Okay dear, whatever you say. I knew that God could do it.  I knew that He loves us.  I did not know when or how He was going to do it.  However, I did not want to open the door to doubt, but some times it creeps in.

One day in May, Nick and I drove to our mail box, as we did several times a week. As I went to pick up the mail, I was opening the envelopes of donations and I handed Nick all the bills.  He opened one from the hospital and it said: "Dear Nick..." well, we thought when you are in a first name basis with the hospital..we saw it as trouble.  However, as Nick continued to read we discovered, that the hospital had forgiven $20000 out of the $22,200 we owed.  The Monday prior to receiving this letter from the hospital, we had received a donation of $2000, so we only paid $200 for that bill.....Is GOD faithful or what???  I was so overwhelmed I was crying and thanking God all over the place, the people at the mail box just looked at me and did not know what was going on......I marvel at our Lord.  He loves us sooo much it is....Amazing!!!! The best part of it all is that He loves you too!!!

People like you also sent gifts to help us out so we could do our walk for Christ and we thank you, because we know that God had provided for you and He placed us in your hearts for you to give.  Thank you soooooo very much.  We ask the True God that He prospers you for your obedience and faithfulness.

Through the guidance and love of God we paid off the other part of the debt. Since late October we have been debt free!


On August 31st, we started our 3rd Walk Across America for Christ, however as you have learned through our news letter, emails, facebook and blogs.  We had continued to have problems with the 1977 RV.  It got so bad that the toilet was not working, then we had a water leak that created mold on the carpet, the black water came in the RV some how and it was bad.  Then the  generator needed a new starter.

By the end of September we had a propane leak and we almost met our Creator.  I got very sick....a few days later Pastor Harold from South West Community Church and the church family, purchased a 1994 Winnebago for us to continue on this journey because they felt the other RV was not safe to drive any more.

November first. our son-in-law had and accident, he fell from a 2 story building and broke his back. As I write this he is not able to have any feeling from mid-chest down, he is in the hospital and has a tracheotomy.
We do believe that the same God who has been with us all along and has gotten us out of debt....He is the healer and will bring restoration to Alex.  We stand on God's promises and we know that He is Faithful and He is the healer. (Psalm 103)

The storms of life come and go, but we know the One who calms the storms and we stand on the Rock.We are in God's side and we know that He is able and willing. He is faithful and true, therefore, we shall not be moved! (Psalm 16:8, Psalms 62.6, Acts 2:25)

My prayer for you today....

In the book of Colossians Chapter 1, verses 9-12 we read:  For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.    

God adores you and and wants to spend ETERNITY with you.

This is my prayer for you today.  That you receive all that God has for you.  He loves you and wants what is best. May the healing touch, of the Master, fill you a new, with physical and emotional healing, with physical strength; that your relationships be restored as well as your finances. May you feel a peace that passes all understanding and be enriched with an everlasting joy.  Give thanks today, count your blessings and say YES to the One who loves you above all, Jesus Christ!

In His hands.


Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26




When I read this passage, the word of God humbles my heart, because it helps me to realize that I am experiencing first hand the goodness of God, through His people.  


Nick and I do not own a house, do not have a car, we had an RV that allowed us to go from here to Oklahoma and meet really good people and learned the good things they are doing for the kingdom of God. At the same time we met other people who needed some one to talk to and they needed to be heard.

As we read again what Matthew wrote in scripture: "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?--  His words put a new perspective in my heart.  God values each one of us.  God really, really, really values us... yes, you and me!  We just need to recognize it and accept the fact that we mean something good to Him, we are His creation and that is the reason why He sent His Son Jesus.


Often times, we have listened to the wrong voice.  Just the way Adam and Eve did in the garden. We need to learn more about what the Word of God says about His love for us. He wants the best for His children.  

There are many things in this world that I do not understand.  However, what I know is... that since 2001 when we publicly acknowledged God, we have been blessed.  We have had our ups and downs, but God has not turned away from us.  Usually we are the ones that move away from Him.  


In the last 8 years that we have been serving God full time we have done 2 walks across America for Christ. This is our third. We have had 4 RVs donated to our ministry to be able to accomplish these walks. God has touched people because we have been working on being obedient.  


He sent us to Japan to touch the life of a young person... a little person, so he could get the medical attention he needed for his back.


We were able to go to the Holy Land and Nick baptized  about 25 people or so in the Jordan River, we also did the 3 Biblical presentations and people were touched because of the power of the Holy Spirit.






I am not sharing this to show you how lucky we are or to say we are world travelers. Most of the time, we do not know what we are doing or where we are going...we just rely on His direction and love.  At times it feels scary because sometimes we want to take control. Sometimes we try to get ahead of God.


You may say....but you have nothing! Yes, you are right, we have nothing physical, but God is giving us what we need.  He has provided all our needs and many of our wants too!  He is a loving Father.   

We also read in Scripture: If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!  Matthew 7:11 What He has done for us, He will do for you. God does not have favorites. He loves you as He loves us. Don't be afraid to ask Him for what you want. Present your dreams to Him. Believe and do not doubt in your heart and He will do it for you!  Give your heart to Him today, do not delay and begin to acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your path.

They who wait upon the Lord


No matter how bad we want to get back on the road it seems that we need to wait for the Lord to give us the ok.  As we wait for God's marvelous timing we need to develop some patience.  We need to learn that at times it is not in our best interest to move ahead, because He may be keeping us out of trouble.


Other times as we wait upon Him and His marvelous works, we also learn that we can wait upon the Lord with praises, thanksgiving and we can offer Him our worship for His wonderful acts of protection, deliverance, guidance, love, grace, peace, and the life that He has given us. Therefore let us not forget to "wait" upon the Lord with our song and our heart filled with gratitude.


He has our best interest at hand, He will never leave us nor forsake us.  He is the one that desires to have our Love given back to Him.  He desires for us to look into His loving eyes and see that all that He has done is out of love.  So today, we bow down to worship His Holy name, the name of Yahweh!

Homeless vs Many Mansions!

 Last night we attended our prayer meeting at Southwest Community Church. As I was praying I remembered a casual comment someone made last week regarding our situation (Nick and I being homeless)  I said to myself, "That thought had never entered my mind before."  I always have been feeling totally blessed.  In fact,  I feel like Nick and I have many mansions because of the hospitality and the love you have been pouring on us all across America.   Just like the song says, "...and crowned thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."

Since we stated these journeys in 2001, we have had challenging times, but I have had the tendency of always looking at every situation as a way to bless God and as a blessing from Him. No matter what I have or what I have lacked, my focus has always been the goodness of God and Jesus Christ over my life.

In Scripture we read: I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. Phil 4:12 -- I  have never been hungry. God has always put people like You in my path to give me love and to embrace me.  Yes, I have been frustrated, afraid, concerned ...you name it. However, God always sees me through every problem...and why? It is not luck, because luck runs out but the blessings of God never stop flowing! CHRIST is the Solution to every problem, challenge and situation; Jesus is the Answer to every question!

Day by Day


Every day is a new blessing!  We open our eyes to new opportunities to bless others. We can bless people with a hug, with a smile, with an encourageing word.

We need to get out of focusing on ourselves.  If we look at the news it seems that this world is getting a bit crazy. But the American people we see are good people; loving, kind and looking for each other.  Those are the people that do not get any air time on CNN or any other national network.  

Look around you and see the blessings of God, feel His love and move closer to Him. Go back to your first love, (painting, singing, cooking, reading to someone else, preaching, teaching, playing an instrument, hugging someone, listening).  There is so much good we can do.  We need each other. We need God and God desires for us to be who He created us to be.

Jesus gave His all for love! He wants us to give Him all we are. My friend Don Knepp is getting ready to run  in the Kansas City Marathon Saturday. On his shirt, it says "Need Prayer? Ask me!" He's doing what he loves and at the same time making himself available before, during and after the race to bless people for God.

That's all God wants from us; do what we love and be available to be a blessing.

The Body of Christ Building Muscles


 The past 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of blessing.  The Body of Christ is building the muscle of faith in our heart and... our church  has come together to get a new RV for our mission trip across America.

All of YOU have  have been a part of it.  You have kept us in your prayer, you have send your monthly donation, you have cooked for the people who have been investing their time with repairs and upgrading the RV for our comfort. Wow!!!!

Last week we arrived in the Tulsa area.  After our radio interview, we stopped at Midwest Agape Chapel to see Pastor Kevin. We had a good time and wonderful conversation.  He asked us to come and share at his Wednesday night service and talk about what God has been doing in our lives since we started our 3rd journey. We accepted the invitation and we had a great time.  God really moved as we had a chance to pray with some of the people and that's definitely my favorite part.


On Thursday night we went to Pastors George and Brenda Shafer's home for dinner. They are soooooo giving and loving. I cannot stop being amazed at how God puts in our path people who love Him and dedicate their lives to Him; people who have the heart of God.  The Lord, keeps moving through the body of Christ....the church, and it does not matter what denomination or church they belong to, they all have come under the Banner of the Love they have for Jesus.

After dinner, George gave us a ride back to the RV, he asked us if we were going to be warm enough, of course we said "yes, no problem".  As we got in the Yellow Submarine, Nick turned the thermostat on. I was setting out our clothes ready for the next day and was about to get into bed when all of the sudden I got a whiff of the propane! I grabbed a plastic bag and I started to....well you get the idea!  Nick immediately turned the heater down and it went off.  We lay in bed and tried to go to sleep.  Some time around 2:00 am.  The heater came on again and I just could not take the smell any more.  Nick handed me my clothes as fast as he could, as I was making my way to the bathroom.  The smell was overwhelming and got stronger and stronger.

I told Nick..."I can't breathe, I cannot breathe!" He started to pray for me and as I was putting my shoes on, he ushered me to the door and into the sanctuary of the church. We are so thankful Pastor Kevin gave us the key!  I was walking back and forth all over the sanctuary trying to compose myself, but I felt that my longs were all full of that stuff.  I ran to the restroom in the church and by the time I came out, Nick had set up a blanket an a pillow for us to sleep under the cross in the sanctuary.  We sat on the steps of the altar. We did not know what to do and we were both wide awake. Nick embraced me and asked me to try to go to sleep, but I was not able to....finally I drifted off. 


Next thing it was 7:00 am, we had slept for couple of hours.  Nick called Pastor Harold in Olathe, with the news. "We are not able to continue with this RV, we do not have electricity, a toilet that works and now we have a propane leak....we do not know what to do." We called  our friends Pastor George and Brenda, who live near Bixby, to see if we could spend couple of days with them. We needed re-group, get some counsel and pray for what God wanted us to do next.  George and Brenda opened their home to us and have been a great support.

Wonders and Signs

Yes, I know, most people say "signs and wonders" .... however, we serve a mighty God and his wonders are remarkable.  Even before you say a word, He knows what's in your heart.  This morning, we had a nice stretch of road, it is a four lane highway with wide shoulders.  When Nick took his first break, he asked me to take a look at the map, to see what road we would be taking that will take us to the mechanic on Tuesday.  So we looked at the map and decided that we were going to take 56 Street East.  After he got a bite to eat, he continued on his walk.

I drove about a mile ahead of him and I parked on the shoulder, and it was then that I noticed that the set up of the highway had changed.  No more cut offs, this would make it very difficult for Nick to walk over towards me; and the divider piece between the four lanes, had a wire fence on the North bound side of the highway. I told myself, "before you panic and worry, lets go ahead and see if it changes ahead of us."  Well, 5 miles later, the set up was the same and to make things more difficult, I saw a sign that said....Tulsa 13...this means we are only 13 miles away from Tulsa.  Well, my heart started to pund an I started to think of all the types of roads we could encounter....and of course all the roads that do not have a shoulder.... I was looking at the map and trying to discifer the colors of the roads and trying to remember what they meant.  Red is a good road, black is a country road, (no shoulder), Thick red, freeways...we cannot walk those....

I picked up my binoculars to see how far ahead of me was Nick, it look like about mile and a half.  I turned my gaze towards the passenger window and this is what a saw!!

As I looked to the sign, I knew God was talking to me, very straight forward.  I got a sense of Him telling me: "Did I provide places for you to park in the last two walks....haven't I provided parking places for you this far in this journey."  "Do not worry, just trust Me."  I felt a bit sad, because I do trust God for everything...or so I thought and yet, when it comes to parking this RV and parking spaces .... I get worried.  It was then that I realized that I trust God.... I don't trust my driving and parking abilities!

Lord, please forgive me for focusing on me and my lack of trust in myself. Thank You, that despite how I feel, You are always there.

Your works are wonderful, Oh Lord!

That's what it says in Psalm 139:14 and King David was so right!  I cannot stop being amazed by the Lord.


A week ago Friday, we have had some challenges with a mysterious leakage and the carpet was soaked and wet, then the speedometer stopped working...just go to (Walk across America for CHRIST) for the rest of the story.

However, God in his infinite wisdom, sent us our friend Arnold and as he and Nick took the RV to the mechanic, our RV had a cruise control bypass, now it runs and counts the mileage like a pro.

The next couple of days, Nick worked on the carpet and we were checking to see where the leakage was coming from, and we finally found it. It seems that the water is seeping up from the tank every time we drive the RV,so we need to keep the tanks half full. Next Tuesday, we will be going to Tulsa RV to get all this checked out.

Last Tuesday, we crossed from KS to Oklahoma and Nick was walking down the road, when he called me and said, "You are not going to believe this, come quickly...."  I did not know what he was talking about. I did not know if he was in trouble or if it was an animal he wanted me to see or what.  So I got on the driver side of the RV, turned the engine and I was on my way.  As I was approaching across the street from where Nick was,  I saw a car and a couple standing next to him.  Nick signaled me to come on the side of the road.  As I drove over and a was getting closer to their car,  I was able to see that the people who were with Nick, were our friends Randy and Elizabeth Davenport.  You can check their photo on Facebook.  Wow!  What a wonderful surprise.  We spend few minutes chatting with them and then they continued on their merry way back to KS.




As you may remember at the beginning on this week we had another incident with our bathroom facilities, and that's not all. God knew about it so He, brought our friends Don and Pat Knepp.  They treated us to a night at the Hampton Inn and not only did we have a working bathroom, we had a couple hours of prayer and worship together. We even Skyped my aunts in Mexico City and they were able to join us. It was wonderful!

Back home when we were in KC, every Tuesday night, we gathered at Don and Pat's for prayer.  Their ministry is Upper Room Ministry. It is a ministry of worship and intercessory prayer. As a matter of fact, my aunts are part of this prayer ministry via Skype. And several people have been healed, through Upper 
Room Ministry and the prayer that goes on there.

So Pat and Don decided to bring their prayer meeting to us. Wow!  I was very touched. We had a very nice time and I felt that we were immersed in God's presence and love.

The next morning, we got up and took a wonderful shower and by 6:40 we were on the road.  Nick was walking and I was there for anything he may needed.  Don and Pat got to sleep in.  By 9ish or so Nick called me and asked me to go back to the hotel and to wait for him there, since we did not have many places to park... When I got there, I made myself a cup of coffee and Pat joined me few minutes later.  After Nick arrived to the hotel, the four of us chatted for a while, and had a time for prayer.  You cannot have too much of that. We said our goodbyes, they left and we continued our walk. It is good to know that God sends his angels to let you know He cares for you.

On the way we found a Wal-Mart and we knew for sure we were going to spend the night there. (It is our home away from home).

Nick had finished walking by 12 noon.  When he got to the RV, he mentioned that he had met two young men by the name of Jeff and Jeff, and that we were going to be speaking to a group of young men and also to a High school gathering. So we went to Wal-Mart and we took a very much needed nap.  We got ready and by 4:00 pm we were on our way to the church.  It was a group of young men and Nick shared about how God asked him to do these walks.  Also I had the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with them, we stayed with them until 5:30. 



From there we went back to Dewey, to the High school gathering.  It was a group of about 500  young people from Dewey and Bartlesville area.  They had worship, a speaker and a comedian.  Other ministries were represented there and they shared their vision with the audience. We had about 10 minutes to addressed the group....and what else can you talk about but Jesus. 

We mentioned to them that God wants to use them for His kingdom and we asked them not to belittle their influence in this world for Christ.  After the event was over, we were able to speak one on one with some of the young people and pray with them.  Wow! I love to serve my God.  I wish I could do this all the time.....but what am I saying...I am doing it.  Thank You, Jesus!!

Yesterday, after we were done walking, we were invited for lunch to Jeff Holley's home. He has a beautiful young family and you can sense the presence of God in his home.  Jeff has a ministry of his own....well... God called him into ministry.  But I will spare you the story, because you will be able to get more details on Nick's blog.  I just know that Jeff if a true man of God, who is bringing other Godly men to serve the way the 1st century church did.  It is soooooo refreshing to meet people like him, Ken, Don and Jeff Berg.

God just keeps blessing us and giving us one serendipity after another.  Really and truly is all about Jesus!

Every Day is an Adventure

Yes, indeed.  Some days we have wonderful roads with wide shoulders, other days no shoulder at all, and some other days are rainy with dark skies and yet others with sunny skies; but one thing is for sure, in all of them, God is always there to help us through every day.

This week started with the challenge of the bathroom. It looks like our holding tank for the black water has a leak, and our recycling toilet is not holding the water in the toilet, therefore, we cannot use the facilities ... ooops, it looks like there is a challenge before us or should I say underneath us!

However, God has given us a brain to create and improvise in any difficulty that we may have. So, my beloved husband has helped me improvise the restroom facilities during the walking periods....I will spare you the details. However, in a rainy day like today, it is hard because there is water everywhere....except where we need it..hahahaha... I made myself  laugh.  We just adapt as we go-- Some times I feel like I am in the jungles of Africa or in the middle of the Amazon...I feel like we are in one of those reality shows, living our own adventure.  I am not sure if I am crazy or just going with the flow or maybe a little of both, but as I think of some of my girlfriends I wonder what they must be thinking of this crazy life I am living.

However in Scripture,  (2nd Corinthians NIV)  8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

It is my belief that all these challenges are helping us to build character.  Perspective is everything: we are healthy, we have each other, we are not in any life threatening situation and we have all of you in the background praying for us and cheering us on and for that I am most grateful.

Sarah, Noah's wife and me

As we do this journey, the only concern I have had is that I really do not want to be between God's will and Nick.  I know that God has asked us to do this walk.

Each journey has been like a child. Any parent knows that although their kids have grown up in the same household, ate the same food and had the same set of rules, yet each child develops his or her own personality.  Well, it has been much the same with these journeys.  The first one was a struggle between fear and faith. I was always concerned about Nick and fearing that something was going to happened to him and I was not going to be able to be there for him.

The second journey (in 2005/2006) was more like walking with God across America. He was guiding us and we felt more in His hands. We were at peace.

This walk has been more like child birth... uncomfortable, challenging, emotional and sometimes painful. This walk seems to have developed a personality that says "I am going to do it my way!"... "I don't want to go and you can't make me!" We've had so many difficulties with our home on wheels. 

Which makes me think.  What did Sarah and Noah's wife do when their husbands talked to them about what God had asked them to do... go on their own journeys.

I think about their fears, frustrations, their faith.... Lord, I know that your mercies are new every morning.  I also know that, You have not changed, O God. The way you took care of Sarah and Mrs. Noah, the way You took care of us in the previous walks and the way You are here with us right now reminds me....Lord, You are the Way!  Thank you for holding my hand and telling me not to fear, but to trust in You.....and I do.

The Beginning

Well, it all started in 2001, when we did our first walk for Christ. Nick was having this conversation with God and one day he came to me and said. " I have been talking with God and I am going to do a walk across America for Christ. It will be 3,300 miles, 100 miles for every year Jesus walked the earth."

My first thought it was..."Happy trails, dear, I am going to miss you." I was very happy with my job at the Crystal Cathedral. I had been working there for about 13 years and I did not think much of this walk idea, however, God had other plans.

One day I came home for lunch and I looked around our one bedroom apartment....and I really did not feel attached to anything and just then I heard a voice that said...."Sell everything and follow Me". I looked around and I did not see anyone and so I heard it all over again. "Yes, sell everything and follow Me."

So we did, we sold all our belongings and took off on the road in a 5th wheel and a pick-up truck.

In 2005, we did our 2nd 3,300 mile walk for Christ and now 2009 I find myself in a 1977 GMC Kingsley. You may wonder how is life on the road....as far as I am concerned, home is always where Nick and I are together, no matter if it is in an apartment, a house or in a RV. Home is where the 3 of us are......yes, three of us. Jesus, Nick and I. ....... more to come.
